Pride month is here, and as a queer man, it’s important to celebrate this time. The world is cuckoo in so many ways, and my freedom to love who I want and be who I am without oppression feels like it’s in a fragile state. Queerness is nothing new though, take a read through Wikipedia’s article on it, and you’ll see that affection between people regardless of sex and gender, has always been part of who we are as humans. What is new is puritanism, that there are binaries people need to adhere to, a man and a woman having children. It’s an exhausting western viewpoint that has totally tainted the world.
This month’s mix was made in contrast to those archaic beliefs. It’s a compilation of tracks that represent a beautiful spectrum of queerness. I recommend you look up each and every one of these artists to learn how they express themselves. Music, especially seeing artists like these perform live, is an ultimate equalizer, where everyone is on the same wavelength, coming together to enjoy the sound.
I love how this mix turned out because of the expansiveness of the music. It starts out pretty chill, builds some momentum, then you get a short reprieve thanks to Roza Terenzi’s mix of Opus III´s “It’s a Fine Day” (titled “Fine Gay” lol), which leads into some nassssstttttyyyy techno that will get you moving. Hope you love the mix, be sure to share it with your friends, and be sure to tell the queer people in your life that you love them 💙
Oh my god, this Roza TerenzI mix 🙏
