I’m happy to say that I’m back in Barcelona after a week in Madrid. It turned out that Madrid was a lot different from what I expected. Over the last couple years I’ve been told by different folks that I would love Madrid. That it’s a city of culture, that Barcelona is Los Angeles and Madrid is New York. Honestly, that wasn’t really my experience. The city wasn’t bad in any regard, it was… fine. The city lacked the character and charm of Barcelona (Gaudí and Cerdá deserve credit here) and it didn’t feel like it had it’s own unique identity.
I think the highlight was the dining scene, which certainly felt very interesting and elevated. I found some really great places to shop as well. I personally feel that the art museums, sadly, which were so overcrowded, and fthe signage made it impossible to find things. If you want to read more, I’ve written up my list of places to visit in Madrid over on the site. I really want to revisit Madrid in the last spring or early summer to see if my opinion changes.
After 15 years I decided to make some The Fox Is Black gear! You can get the iconic fox logo in a t-shirt, long sleeve, or sweatshirt, and they come in white, black, or dark grey. I’ve wanted to do this for a long time, I figured that now was the right time. Let me know if you want to see any other swag 🤗
⚫️ — Bjørn Lie is really knocking it out of the park with his Flamboyant Flower series. Such a playful and odd interpretation of what flora can look like. I really love the mismatching pattern elements.
⚫️ — As it turns out, there’s a guy who was the idea behind dumping confetti in Times Square during New Years Eve. His name is Joshua Charrow, and his story is utterly fascinating.
⚫️ — I have a lot of things to recommend for you to listen to this week, but last week’s on repeat selection was a mix put together by the Purelink boys. The vibes were immaculate.
⚫️ — Need a new calendar for 2024? I love these two, risographed posters by artist FU, which magically capture the spirit of a new year.
⚫️ — Brutto caught my attention with their charming wall clock they’ve designed which has that vibe of irreverant mid-century design. The colors are a lovely combo and the message of the clock is pretty much me.
Oh, that hurt! I'm sorry to read this, let me review your list of places (once you fix the link) and I'd love to add some more, to change your perspective. Thanks for sharing
