Last week was such a blur. Work, projects, getting sick, I felt like I didn’t have enough time or energy to tackle all the fun things I wanted to get to. Oh well, it happens! I’m not one to beat myself up over not doing enough. This week will be better, I’m sure of it. That said, I figured I’d focus on sharing some things I didn’t have time to post about last week. I hope they bring a little knowledge and inspiration to kick off your week 💙
💿 — I’ve had on repeat a mix from Call Super for Etudés, their Mix Nº 63. It’s very eclectic, ranging from Massive Attack to Simply Red to Susumo Yoko. Your living room will immediately feel like an artsy French showroom.
🏠 — Rachel Davies spoke with production designer Tamara Deverell, who helped recreate Graceland for Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla. “We were walking that fine line between making it a beautiful place, a period place, and a place that exists in reality.”
🎟️ — Speaking of Sofia, I highly recommend her new book Archive, a massive collection of items and objects from her life of making films. I’ve been obsessed with her since The Virgin Suicides so this was a must-have for me.
🎾 — The Courts is a cute lifestyle brand selling tennis-inspired gear with a quirky twist. My current fave is their Bad Dog tee.
🀰 — New to me, this Dominoes print by Paul Smith, produced by Maharam. It’s such a simple concept but the boldness of the repetition is absolutely mind bending, it’s such a cool effect.
🇰🇷 — I’ve been hearing/reading a lot of good things about DAE, a multi-hyphenate design shop, café, wine bar, and private event space in New York. If you’ve been I’d love to hear your thoughts.
☑️ — Supermodel, fashion ingenue, and forever cool girl Alexa Chung recently turned 40 and decided to share a list of 40 things she’s learned so far. A personal fave: “Competition is healthy. Turn jealousy, that most devious of emotions, into motivation.”
🏁 — Beautiful bit of branding by Jack Baxter for Bar Heather. A strong combination of lovely typefaces and bold patterns. Wonderfully moody and timeless, especially paired with such beautiful photography.
🪑 — Ditch Plains is a minimal residence located in Montauk, New York, which was designed by Oza Sabbeth Architects. For me, this is a perfect definition of minimalism that has a sense of style and whimsy to it. I would absolutely live here in a heartbeat.
🏃 — My go-to running gear has been SATISFY, the offbeat French brand making great activewear. Recently, I discovered that Actual Source was the brains behind their branding, creating an approachable yet futuristic feeling to the identity.
🔠 — I recently figured out that Tegan Ella Hendel was the designer behind a bunch of my favorite posters for a natural wine bar I admired in London. She’s an Australian designer with a knack for great typography paired with bold color blocking.
