Wrapping up The Fox Is Black and the start of Horstman

After much thought, I’ve decided it’s time to bring The Fox Is Black to a close.

This project shaped so much of my creative life. It introduced me to incredible people, opened doors I never could have imagined, and served as an outlet for curiosity and culture for well over a decade. But over time, it’s started to feel like baggage, or a remnant of a time long gone. A world that ended up feeling constricted by artificial rules in my head of what I can or can’t do, of what the brand embodied that didn’t fit for me now.

So, I’m letting it rest. It’s long overdue, but it feels right.

In its place, I’m beginning something new: Horstman, a studio rooted in exploring culture through cities, spaces, and the ways people gather. There is a newsletter which will be centered on cultural standouts in this moment, with a focus on homes, restaurants, and special objects. This will come out every 2 weeks or so. There’s also a Horstman Instagram which I’m updating every couple of days. This project is an ongoing design study that will shape future projects, from dinners and pop-ups to an eventual café.

What’s next? Logistically, I’ll be moving everyone’s emails over to Horstman, and I hope since you’ve signed up once with me, that you will give Horstman a shot. The design of the newsletter has been enhanced quite a lot thanks to a move to Beehiv, which I’m quite excited about, it feels more like what I’ve been wanting share, more true to me and my style. It’s a continuation in spirit but a departure in focus. A chance to build something more aligned with who I am now, and where I want to go next.
